I am a philosopher, martial artist, and musician. These three endeavors feed the mind, body, and spirit, respectively.
To be clear, philosophy is not about reading books and sounding pompous - it’s about understanding as much as I can about the real world, and to have good reasons for doing what I do. However, all the knowledge in the world is meaningless if you can’t do anything with it, so I have deeply pursued the art of communication (written and spoken) since I was a little kid.
Martial arts for me is a mastery of the human body. I want to learn every movement that my muscles, joints, and tendons are capable of doing, and I exercise with the intent of growing strong and limber enough to do all of those movements. Beyond that, martial arts is also a mastery of physics, refining your motions to maximize efficiency and/or efficacy.
For me music is a way to communicate emotions and feelings through sound. I grew up playing trumpet, later on took up DJing, and now spend most of my time playing bass guitar. The bass really suits me because it bridges the rhythm section and the melody. Bass players are the hub of the band and the foundation of any piece of music. Sometimes I like to just make up a groove and jam on it as a form of meditation.
